South Korea's Guri and Crescent City Two-Nuclear Power Plants Generate Electricity from the Grid

Shin Kori 2, the newest nuclear reactor in South Korea, and Shin Wolsong 1 in Crescent City Nuclear Power Unit 1 have been connected to the grid for power generation.

Following the commercial operation of Unit 1 of Xin Guli Nuclear Power Station in early 2011, Unit 2 of the nuclear power plant was started in December 2011 and was connected to the grid for power generation in January 2012. At the same time, the New Moon City Nuclear Power Plant Unit 1 was started in January 2012 and realized grid-connected power generation. Her sister reactor, Crescent City Unit 2, is expected to start operation by the end of 2012.

The development of nuclear power has become the practice in South Korea. Both units are self-designed OP-1000 pressurized water reactors in Korea, and they are scheduled to enter the commercial operation stage in mid-2012. The grid-connected generation of the two units increased the number of nuclear reactors in service in South Korea to 23.
