The casing and the sieve plate are fixed, the hammer is rotated with the rotor main shaft, and the sweeping material is also rotated by the animal material. The crushed material smaller than the mesh hole leaks through the sieve plate, and the large particles continue to be pulverized.

The crushing of the material in the hammer mill is mainly achieved by impact. The inner cavity of the pulverizer casing is mostly round.
