Dynamic Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology has developed a technology that is able to fly unmanned aircraft can climb a wall of fire, dubbed "fire air robot system" (FAROS) to enter the drone of skyscrapers The fire scene, and the information data of trapped people in the fire scene are transmitted back to the ground station in real time, providing more support for high-rise building fire rescue.


This fire-fighting drone can enter the fire scene before the firefighters, monitor internal fire conditions, help firefighters save time and reduce firefighters' casualties. The FAROS drone judges its own actions with automatic navigation sensors using two-dimensional laser scanners, altimeters, and inertial measurement components.


Fire-fighting drones are also equipped with an unobstructed navigation system that allows them to operate flexibly in an obstacle-filled fire scene. In addition, through the use of thermal imaging cameras and dedicated image processing technology, fire-fighting drones can also identify people or objects in buildings, and can even identify ignition points.

In addition, the fuselage of the fire-fighting drone is covered with aramid fiber to prevent the internal electrical and mechanical components from being affected by the flame.

In laboratory tests, this fire-fighting drone can fly for more than a minute in butane gas and aerosol ethanol flames in excess of 1000 degrees Celsius.
