Recently, the major project of the National 863 Plan undertaken by China Light Power Investment Mengdong Energy Co., Ltd. “Operational Control Technology and Demonstration of Isolated Power Grids Containing Renewable Energy†passed the inspection and acceptance of experts organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology. This topic is based on the research results of optimized dispatching methods for local grids, which will play a positive role in the future of new energy consumption and the development and application of smart grid technologies.
Since the launch of the project in March 2012, the research group has carried out research on an island-based microgrid system that includes large-scale renewable energy sources. The study focused on microgrids and the large-scale renewable energy sources they have access to, in order to ensure island-based microgrids. With the goal of safe and stable operation and cost-effective operation, we have conducted orderly research on the key technologies of frequency stability, load-frequency control, voltage stability mechanism, dynamic voltage stability control, and access to isolated power grids for renewable power grids. Microgrid power generation, transmission, dispatching and closed-loop control systems have played a key supporting role in the design, construction and operation of island-based microgrid systems.
Relying on this project, the Huolin River Circular Economy Demonstration Project is the world's first wind-fire-aluminum joint isolated power grid, including 1300 MW thermal power units, 300 MW wind turbine units, 930 MW electrolytic aluminum loads and supporting power grid projects. And secondary systems. Through the construction and operation of the demonstration project, Mengdong Energy has built a large proportion of the coal-electricity-aluminum industrial chain that consumes wind power, and has carried out active practices in the development and utilization of new energy, low-carbon energy and emission reductions, and effectively reduced the purchase of electrolytic aluminum. Electricity costs have freed up idle production capacity, improved the ability of the project to withstand economic risks, and explored a coal-electricity-aluminum integration development road that breaks the plight of the energy industry and the energy-using industry.
